Join GreenUP and B!KE every Thursday for a night all about bikes starting this April.
- 1st Thursday of each month | The focus is bike mechanics – repair, maintenance and building.
- 2nd Thursday of each month | The focus is family fun – tune-ups, rides, playgrounds, and skills courses for all ages.
- 3rd Thursday of each month | The focus is confidence building – commuter skills, route planning, gear talks, and more to get you on your bike.
- 4th Thursday of each month | The focus is discovery rides – visit parks, galleries, new trails, gardens, and possibly buttertarts by bike.
Please register for Bike Night workshops at Peterborough Moves. Some workshops have a limited number of spaces available and fill up quickly. If a workshop you are interested in is full, send us a quick email and we will let you know if a space opens up or if another workshop is added.
Learn and ride together on Family Bike Nights. The second Thursday of each month focuses on family bike fun! All ages are welcome, and we request a minimum of one adult per three children. Teens are welcome to attend other Bike Nights, but those under 16 should attend with an adult.
All courses are taught by experienced Cycling Instructors and/or Bicycle Mechanics from B!KE & GreenUP, along with other special guests.
B!KE and GreenUP have been working collaboratively to increase cycling access and education programming in the Peterborough region since 2012. This collaborative project aims to support people in choosing healthy and active lifestyles. We seek to increase and sustain rates of cycling as a way to address challenges related to chronic physical inactivity and transportation inequity.
While cycling has been marginalized as a form of transportation and recreation, investments in programs that focus on growing bicycle ridership in Peterborough are an effective way to increase the number of active people locally. Current programs are generously funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation and have received much support from the City of Peterborough and the Peterborough Risk Watch Network.
