Exciting changes at GreenUP Ecology Park

Final Ecology Park Master Plan

GreenUP has been offering opportunities for learning, skill-building, and environmental action in our community for over 25 years.

For children growing up in this region, the GreenUP Ecology Park has been a site of wonder, learning, and environmental immersion.

In 2017, GreenUP began its first capital campaign, the Growing Ecology Park five-year investment campaign. View the Donor Booklet here >

In 2018, with generous community support and donations, we enhanced facilities at GreenUP Ecology Park by building a new Children’s Education Shelter. This new building will help to strengthen our capacity to offer high quality outdoor programming, maximize the impact this unique facility can have on the health of children, and increase accessibility to enable a greater number of children to use the park. As 2019 concludes, we are completing installation of a new low-water irrigation system in our Native Plant and Tree Nursery.

Our goals for 2020 are as follows:

  • Build a permanent, barrier-free washroom
  • Install accessible, permeable pathways that will connect Ecology Park with the existing Trans Canada Trail
  • Add a permeable foundation to the newly constructed Children’s Education Shelter to make this space accessible for everyone
  • Install solar panels on the Children’s Education Shelter

You can help us reach our goals; you can donate now securely online.

You can also give a gift with local impact by gifting your donation in combination with a gift certificate to a friend or loved one. We will send you a personalized Donation Holiday Card to give – a great gift that gives twice! Click here for more information >

For those looking for naming opportunities or giving larger gifts, please view our Major Donor Booklet

Continued plans for improvement at Ecology Park include a Straw Bale Greenhouse and a Naturalized Playscape.

As we look toward the future, community support remains as vital as ever to strengthen our capacity and educate our children in places like GreenUP Ecology Park. We are excited to continue strengthening our facilities to increase GreenUP’s capacity to educate the next generation of environmental stewards.
