LET’S GET DIRTY!
The Depave Paradise Site
GreenUP has partnered with the Peterborough Downtown Business Improvement Area (DBIA) and the City of Peterborough to bring the Depave Paradise project to the south end of Water Street in downtown Peterborough, as part of the Downtown Vibrancy project, led by the DBIA.
The Depave site is located at the southern end of Water Street, behind the No Frills parking lot. This site boasts tremendous potential as a connective space between Millennium Park and Del Crary Park along the shore line of the Otonabee River.
The space is being transformed by Depave Paradise as part of a larger revitalization through the Downtown Vibrancy Project. This area of the urban landscape will be forever altered with the removal of 787 m2 of asphalt and the creation of a significant rain garden, while providing water management to help protect water quality of the Otonabee River and to mitigate flooding in the Downtown.
The Depave Paradise Peterborough event will occur over three days!
Who can volunteer? EVERYONE! Community members and downtown businesses are welcome to volunteer as individuals or in teams of 5-7 people. This is a great opportunity for team building among colleagues and provides a chance to raise awareness of your business through community involvement.
