Giving Tuesday 2019

We’re all familiar with Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The hottest deals of the season can be found at both brick and mortar and online retailers as we search for the perfect gift for our loved ones.  After two days of intense consumerism, Tuesday, December 3nd , 2019, has been marked as a day to give back. Introducing Giving Tuesday, and locally, Giving Tuesday Ptbo. It is a new Canadian movement for giving and volunteering, taking place each year after Cyber Monday. The “Opening day of the giving season” is a day when charities, companies, and individuals join together to share commitments, rally for favourite causes and think about others.

Giving Tuesday inspires personal philanthropy and encourages bigger, better and smarter charitable giving during the holiday season, showing that the Kawarthas truly gives as good as it gets.

How can you help? GreenUP offers many ways that you can help us on our mission to inspire and empower environmentally healthy and sustainable action in our community. Share your #GivingTuesdayPTBO on social media & tag @PtboGreenUP so we can spread the spirit of generosity:

• Give a Gift of Green. Has that hard-to-buy-for person on your shopping list challenged you again this year? Stop by the GreenUP Store and pick out a sustainable Gift of Green for them, or give them a gift certificate. GreenUP is a non-profit charity, so all proceeds from sales support our programs in Peterborough! It’s like giving two gifts at once and everyone wins!
• Make a financial contribution. Your financial support ensures GreenUP can continue to offer it’s valued programs and services that reach everyone from seniors and families to schools and businesses with the message of environmental stewardship. In particular, GreenUP is asking for donations to support our Growing Ecology Park Campaign with goals of adding permeable, accessible pathways, solar lighting, and more!
• Give the Gift that Gives Twice! Combine a donation with a gift certificate, and we’ll send you a Donation Holiday Card that allows you to gift both the donation and the gift certificate to a friend or loved one. It’s a gift with local impact that also lets the recipient enjoy picking something green and fun from the GreenUP Store.
• Volunteer. GreenUP is always looking for energetic and outgoing people to help us with events and activities and tasks at the GreenUP Ecology Park and GreenUP Store. We’d love to have you on board.
