Family Nature Nocturnes

Getting more people, especially children, outside and into nature is something we strive for at GreenUP. Each Thursday throughout the summer we’re hosting Family Nature Nocturnes at GreenUP Ecology Park. Nature Nocturnes is a free opportunity to come to the park to learn about nature, participate in fun educational games, make nature-themed crafts and a whole lot more. We’ve got a different theme for each week, see the list below.

Family Nature Nocturnes is supported through KINARK’s No Child Left Inside initiative. Donations are welcome. Together, we will learn about the plants and wildlife here in our community, and make projects that you can take home to have a positive impact on our environment. All ages welcome. ECOLOGY PARK TEA PARTY

Join us from 6:30 – 8:00 pm, on Thursday July 31st and make your own herbal tea!

Together we will taste teas made from herbs growing at GreenUP Ecology Park and make our own tea bags to take home! Come and play hands on games, write Herbaceous Haikus and spend time exploring the herb garden and Children’s Garden! Bring your own mug for tea tasting!

WONDERFUL WORLD OF WORMS AND COMPOST

Join us from 6:30 – 8:00 pm, on Thursday August 7th  and discover the wonderful world of worms and compost!

Come watch a puppet show, get your hands in some soil, search for the critters that live in our composters and that work so hard to create beautiful soil! This event will also feature a mini vermicomposting workshop, learn how to compost with worms!

NOCTURNAL ANIMALS

Join us from 6:30 – 8:00 pm, on Thursday August 14th  and discover the creatures that come out at night!

Celebrate the animals that are awake at night and asleep during the day with an evening of music, active games, fire building and complimentary activities featuring your favourite nocturnal animals!

Family Night and Lantern Festival 

AUGUST 21 @ 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM

Come visit GreenUP Ecology Park for an evening filled with nature themed activities, displays, and sample garden grown goodies. Make your own lantern, and walk with us through the park’s trails. Suggested donation of $15 for a family. $5 for individuals.
