This simple scouring cloth is handmade by a fairtrade collective in Mexico. It is tough enough to remove cooked-on food from pots and pans, yet gentle enough for use on non-stick finishes. Agave fibres expand and soften when wet and they are also incredibly durable. When it’s time to retire your agave dish scrubber, simply compost it along with your fruit and veggie scraps.

Sustainability is not simple. As thoughtful consumers we have to consider the whole lifecycle of the products we buy, including who makes them and how far they have to travel. There are lots of grey areas and very few perfect products. However, by educating ourselves about manufacturing processes and materials, we can all get a little closer to the waste-free ideal.
