TK Wide Insulated Bottle by Klean Kanteen

This month’s #ZeroWaste feature product is the TK Wide Insulated Bottle by Klean Kanteen. These hard-wearing, stainless steel vessels keep drinks piping hot or icy cold for hours on end. No matter what you are drinking on the daily, having a reusable vessel is one of the most essential pieces of zero waste gear you can own. If you already have a reusable stainless steel vessel, keep using it! If you have nothing and need to “green up,” the TKWide is an excellent option. (Read this blog about the “Blue W” program to find locations in downtown Peterborough where you can refill your TK Wide Bottle!)

The materials are great. Klean Kanteen uses 18/8 vacuum-insulated stainless steel and a chip-resistant finish. Their gaskets and O-rings are made from food-grade silicone. The plastic components are very few, and all are made with BPA-free polypropylene #5.

Klean Kanteen is a reputable company. They stand behind their products and they have a strong environmental mandate. They are a certified B Corporation, which means they are committed to high standards of social and environmental transparency, accountability, and performance. Based in California, Klean Kanteen manufactures its products overseas in China. Their factories are small-scale and socially and environmentally responsible. Their manufacturing operations meet high standards of quality, safe and fair labor, ethical business, and environmental responsibility. In addition, the company offsets their carbon footprint through investment in renewable energy and in projects that capture and absorb carbon. As a member of 1% For The Planet, Klean Kanteen has contributed over $2 million to environmental organizations dedicated to preserving and restoring wild places.
