Wild Blue Lupin
This is the host plant of the Karner Blue Butterfly which is now extirpated in southern Ontario due to loss of habitat. Wild lupin is now found locally in only a few isolated patches in the Rice Lake Plains. When it blooms in June, the blue spikes of blossoms reach 24” tall. A nitrogen fixing species!
