Bike Riding Education Resources
Cycling is a great way for youth to explore their neighborhood, gain independence, and get a healthy dose of physical activity. It is also a great environmentally friendly transportation alternative!
Bike riding practice and education is an often overlooked skill for young kids. If you are looking to implement more bike-riding education into your school or community, reach out for support. GreenUP has a set of lessons, ideas and experience to help get you started.
Pedal Power and Pedal Power from Home were the flagship bike riding education programs from 2012 to 2019, as seen in the video below.
Reach out for lesson plans, supports and inspiration for bringing bike riding education to your community or school!
Program History
GreenUP and B!KE are partners in offering cycling access and education programming in Peterborough. In 2012, we piloted Peterborough’s first-ever in-school cycling education program at local schools, and with that experience and feedback created Pedal Power in 2013. Pedal Power and other in-school cycling education and celebration activities were delivered until 2019 with the support from Active School Travel Peterborough, the Ontario Trillium Foundation, Ministry of Education, Canadian Tire Jumpstart, Healthy Kids Community Challenge, and local businesses and community organizations.
