Count Week

Thank you for your interest in Count Week 2023!

On September 19th, 20th, and 21st, 2023, volunteers will spread out through the city of Peterborough to complete 2-hour counts of pedestrians and cyclists. The information collected through this annual event greatly contributes to our understanding of active transportation travel behaviours in Peterborough.

The goal is to have all locations counted twice. Counts happen from 7:30-9:30am or 3-5pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of Count Week. Volunteers can sign up for one count or all six timeslots! It’s up to you and your availability.

Click the Register Button below to sign up for this important community science initiative. We are using SignUp.com so that you can choose the date, time, and location that work best for you.

Once you are signed up, we will send you a Count Week 2023 package, with instructions, count sheets, and important health & safety information.

Here’s to community science, active transportation and you!

(Please Note: The above locations are also being used for Count Week 2023.)

Program History

Over the last decade, in partnership with the City of Peterborough and Trent University, GreenUP has helped to administer annual pedestrian and cyclist counts in Peterborough. The annual counts take place in the third week of September at pre-determined locations through the city and relies on the support of community and student volunteers. This long-standing community data gathering project has been key in monitoring the health of Peterborough’s infrastructure.
