Enbridge Gas Distribution Home Winterproofing Program

The Enbridge Gas Distribution Home Winterproofing Program is funded by Enbridge Gas Distribution, administered by Green Communities Canada and delivered in the City and County of Peterborough and the City of Kawartha Lakes by Windfall Ecology Centre.

This FREE program assists homeowners and tenants in financial need to lower energy bills, cut natural gas consumption and make their homes more comfortable. Enbridge will pay for the cost of home improvements such as insulation and draft proofing for people in financial need whether they own or rent a detached home, semi-detached home, row house or mobile home.

To qualify, applicants need to be in receipt of one of six listed government assistance programs or meet maximum gross annual household income eligible amounts. If applicants qualify, an Energy Advisor will conduct a home energy audit to determine if the home will qualify for the installation of improvements. If this is the case, a crew of licensed contractors will be dispatched to install insulation and draft proofing measures that save energy. After the work is completed an Auditor will return to retest the home and measure the improvement in energy efficiency.

Customer Eligibility Requirements:
You must answer yes to all three questions

1. Is your home heated by natural gas?
2. Are you a customer of Enbridge Gas Distribution?
3. Do you pay your own natural gas bill?

If your home is built prior to 1980, you could qualify for this FREE program.

There are many reasons to take part in the Enbridge Gas Distribution Home Winterproofing Program:

  • Save Money. This program may cut your energy demand by 30%. This means lower bills.
  • Be more comfortable. An energy efficient home has fewer drafts and lets you control the temperature.
  • Get healthier. Fewer drafts mean a more comfortable home for you and your family.
  • Increase the home’s value. Potential buyers and tenants like energy efficient homes.
  • Protect the environment. The less energy you use the cleaner the air.
