The Recycle Rangers Planet Protectors Program was designed to help schools reduce waste by improving recycling and increasing composting; it complements lesson plans and helps to achieve EcoSchool goals.

Although school performances will not be occurring during the 2018-2019 school year, take a minute and check out our online resources!

Program History

The Recycle Rangers: Planet Protector Program is a joint initiative supported by four municipalities in the region; County of Peterborough, City of Peterborough, City of Kawartha Lakes and Northumberland County. The program was first designed and developed in 2012 by partner organization GreenUP and is open to elementary schools within these municipalities.

The municipal partners recognize that there is a need to:

  • Reduce what is going to landfill from our schools.
  • Educate our young people on waste reduction.
  • Provide the encouragement, knowledge and resources to protect our planet’s resources and ecosystems everyday.
  • Inform and empower students so that they can educate their families and friends and be environmental leaders.
