Students getting “On the Bus”

October 23rd, 2013

bus webDo you know someone who’s never been on a Peterborough Transit bus? It’s our goal to introduce as many people to public transit as possible. One way we’re doing this is by introducing our youth to transit at an early age through our innovative and extremely popular “On the Bus” program.

“On the Bus” is a fun and interactive introduction to the Peterborough Transit system provided free-of-charge for Grade 3 classes in the City of Peterborough. This program focuses on active and efficient transportation choices, and is tailored to meet specific curriculum expectations.

This two-hour workshop begins when the Peterborough Transit bus arrives at your school to pick you up! While on your bus tour of Peterborough’s downtown core, activities will focus on the application of map reading skills and will seek to develop one’s sense of local community.  This trip also includes a stop at GreenUP Ecology Park for some outdoor games related to transportation choices, air quality and climate change as well as a stop at Peterborough Transit’s Bus Barn for a chance to speak with the drivers!

Please contact Lindsay Stroud at GreenUP, (705) 745-3238 ext. 209, or lindsay.stroud(at)www.greenup.on.ca for more information or to register your class for this program.
