Suds and Sustainability
April 15th, 2015
We’re all familiar with the Steam Whistle brand. Not only do they produce great beer that’s loved by many, they’re also very much invested in ensuring the environmental impact of their operation is as small as possible. From using clean, renewable electricity to power their brewery, to taking advantage of the waters of Lake Ontario to naturally cool their buildings, Steam Whistle takes sustainability very seriously.
You can learn more about Steam Whistle’s green initiatives on Thursday, April 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Peterborough’s Holiday Inn.
The Sustainable Peterborough Business Initiative working group, in collaboration with Peterborough Utilities Inc., the Greater Peterborough Chamber of Commerce and Green Business Peterborough, is inviting you to hear the Steam Whistle Sustainability story.
The event will feature a keynote presentation by Steam Whistle Brewing’s Sybil Taylor who will be talking about the business benefits of the company’s numerous initiatives to reduce energy use, water consumption, and waste generation, and how they embed sustainability thinking across the entire organization.
That will be followed by several local businesses talking about their successes with energy saving programs offered through our Peterborough Utilities Group.
Admission cost is $10, with the net proceeds going towards a Fleming College Sustainability Bursary.
For further details or to reserve tickets, please visit the event’s Eventbrite page.
